Democracy History

Democracy History

Democracy, many people feel it was created in the United States. But little do they know that it was an ancient Athenian system of government. There the Athenians, as members of the assembly, participated directly in the making of their laws throught the system of elections. A democracy was possible only in a small state where the people were politically educated, and it was small since the majority of people living there were slaves or immigrants. Ideas of natural law evolved into the idea of natural rights. For example, the thought that all people have certain rights, such as self-preservation, that cannot be taken from them.

English settlers in America faced conditions that emphasized the importance individual freedom. Americans were very predejuice and needed a special type of a government that would help guide them. This led to a democratic political type of government which expressed individualism, liberty, and a government limited by law.

The first Democracy

The Begining of Democracy
When America was involved with the American Revolutionary war against britain they found themselves despretly needing a leader, someone they can follow, they could have gotten anyone better that George Washington. Washington was the 1st president ever and not only did he lead the country, he fought in their battles as a soldier. You will never see that happen with the modern day president. In 1789, George Washington became he 1st President of the United States and quickly established many of the customs of the Executive department.

When Was the first election?
The United States presidential election of 1789 was the first presidential election in the United States of America.

Would Theocracy bring peace?

Would Theocracy bring peace?

Does any type of government promote peace? Well im starting to think that Theocracy would be the best government if you want peace. With Theocracy, you do not need man to compete against each other to see which would would better fit the country and rule well through an election. God would have his kingdom in which he would rule. There would not be any wars because everyone would have love among themselves and would not think about hurting another person. We would also have the bible to guide us through hardships, such as marriges. For example, at Ephisians 5:33 it says this "Nevertheless, also, let each one of YOU individually so love his wife as he does himself, on the other hand, the wife should have deep respect for her husband." If people heed this councel today the divorce rate would drop. Many people are anxious in life today because of the conditions we live in, but in the bible it says this at 1 peter 5:7 while YOU throw all YOUR anxiety upon him, because he cares for YOU. What other government promises you that?? If we rely on god we can have less stress.

Does Democracy bring peace??

Does Democracy bring peace??

Well many people choose Democracy as their favorite type of government because its "fair, equal, and brings Peace". But does democracy really bring peace?

Ever since the history of Democracy, we have been plagued with more, and more WARS!.

World war 1, world war 2, cold war, even the war on terror. Terrorism is rampant these days it seems like everyday that you hear about another car bomb, air plane hijacking, or suicide bomber. If democracy was a peaceful government it would not need a draft in order for people to be placed in the army unwillingly to fight off waring nations. The ads for the army says that that gods on their side. But is god really? Also if Democracy was a peaceful form of government, then politicians would not be "back stabbing" each other in order to win elections. Campaigners spend lots of money in order to make commercials trying to hurt the other campaigner's image. They may act like friends when theyre in front of the camera, but when they are debating they are a whole different person. Also there 3 million homeless people in america, with no hope and say in the the elections, who are also not cared for. Many people cheat there taxes, as others pay there taxes in order for a new weapon to be built instead of schools. there are many reassons why I feel that Democracy does not deliver peace, can u??

Constitution......or the Bible??

Which is more lawful, the Constitution or the Bible
Many people ask which would be more lawful, the constitution or the Holy Bible? Well lets see the basis in which both the Constitution an the Bible were written.

The Constitution
The Constitution consist of 27 ammendments. The first five ammendments are:

1st Amendment
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

2nd Amendment
A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed (disobey or disregard something).

3rd Amendment
No soldier shall, in time of peace, be quartered in any house, without the consent of the owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law.

4th Amendment
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures(to stop or the act of seizing something, especially the taking of something by force or the official or legal appropriation of something) or , shall not be violated; and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched and the persons or things to be seized.

5th Amendment
No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous, crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service, in time of war, or public danger; nor shall any person be subject, for the same offense, to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled, in any criminal case, to be a witness against himself; nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

The Bible

The bible have many principles that we should follow today. We would follow biblical principles such as loving your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:39). If you love yourself you would not harm your neighbor (neighbor being anyone around you not just your next door neighbor). If everyone would follow there would be peace, no murders. Also at Jerimiah 10: 23 it says I well know, "O Lord, that to earthling man his way does not belong. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step." This shows that we need gods guidence inorder to make right decisions

What is Theocracy?

What is Th30cracy??

Theocracy is a government ruled by god or governed by god, or priest. Theocracy would have a set rule or commands just like the constitution for democracy. The rule guide would be none other than the Holy Bible. The bible is an inspired book of god written by prophets through Gods Holy Spirt. Their are 66 books in the bible. The first 39 are called the Hebrew scripture, and the other 27 books are the greek scriptures. If the government was to be supported by a theocracy the bible would be our guidline. Like the constitution the bible has a written set of "rules" in which we would follow. In the following post i will explain which is more lawful the constitution or the bible.
